St George is always depicted as a knight carrying a shield with a red cross (or a banner with a red cross), generally sitting upon a horse and always killing a dragon. His fabled fight with a dragon was a myth however.

St. George's Day festivals and celebrations are becoming more frequent in the UK and many people wear a red rose in their button hole on this day.
